Love is about the instinctual emotion of being attracted to someone.

Love is complicated but can be broken down and explained simply at times.


Throughout the course of history, definitions of love have evolved. The definition has changed from "happiness in marriage" to “strongly held affection and concern for another which includes itself voluntarily." It has been described as "a need or obligation to persist despite opposition," a state of continuous call or desire, unmatched passion, and an enduring sentiment in love.

What is love? Essentially it's an explanation for how people connect with each other that extends beyond the physical aspects but is not exclusive; rather

beyond loyalty, there is the ability to understand and be in tune when the other does not speak and only feels him/herself. Love is a range of emotional and mental states including listlessness, unhappiness, fear, agitation, anger, apathy etc.


What is love? There are probably thousands of definitions and explanations out there, so I will try to tackle the most prominent one.

The Indian origin theory of love was summed up by Rabindranath Tagore with the following lines:

"Love is everything in existence and its nature as it lives making life worth living."

The modern definition is complicated but quite understandable. It can mean a whole range of things, from a strong attachment; to strong affection; or sometimes even an obsession with someone. To be in love means that one needs to accept their loved one for what they are, flaws and everything. But when it comes down to it, the modern definition of love could be summarized by three words - commitment, understanding and trust.

There is something special about love and everyone wants to know what it is. There are many ways of defining love and understanding it, but what if someone else could be the answer to solve all your dilemmas?

LOVE is not the thin thread that ties two people together, but the tie that binds up two strands of heart fibers and strengthens them with an eternal knot. Love grows with trust, understanding and sacrifices made unconditionally for another living being.

These connections are based on common interests, values, friendships, or complementary traits among other things. The second paradigm of love is Sexual Desire which follows different rules than autonomous love norms.

Many researchers have attempted to define what love actually is but in reality there is no one definition that can accurately answer this question. The definition has most likely evolved over time for many reasons such as changes in social standards or advancements in research knowledge. Advances in Neuroscience provide new perspectives for understanding this idea even more deeply because there are simulations suggesting overall brain function changes when someone feels like they’ve "fallen" into a stage of romantic attraction

What is love means?

Love is hard to define, which is why it leads to so many explanations.
to love is to put the object of one love above oneself- make yourself secondary to that person

People ultimately express their love in a different ways. According to how they perceive themselves or the other person as well as the situation, they express their love and receive it in various shapes and forms.


Initially, the word "love" had different meanings. Now, it is being defined as "any profoundly tender, passionate feeling for another person" (The DICTIONARY OF PSYCHOLOGY). Love can be intense and short-lived feelings for an old flame you've just reunited with. It can be an unending attachment to your soul mate. It can be admiration rooted in commitment such as friendship, kinship, or family ties. Intense romantic love displays various characteristics that include intimacy and deep feelings of attachment which are manifested in different ways for each gender. Romance should not resemble conflict at all!
